fuel gauge problem
« on: August 22, 2006, 04:23:00 am »
my gas gauge stop working right one day while driveing down the highway now it reads horazontally past full.
if i shut it of and come back the needle rests at 3/4 tank, but as soon as i turn the key to run its right back to horazontally past full. people say its a bad ground. but i checked it its just fine. and i have a 80 parts truck with a working gauge. i swaped sendig units - nothing, then gauges - still the same thing. and the gauge has power that why it moves and returns its self, even if you spin it. :(
so what is it, dose any one know? could it be the green? a plug? what, because i cant figure it out and it has been over a month. i give up!!!!!!!!!! >:

Try another sending unit.Did you test the ground at the sending unit with a test light to make sure ?

Had the exact same problem. It wasn't the ground. It was the sending unit.
