HELP!!! With Speedo adjustment

By Speedo I am not talking underwear....

But anyway! I do not have the stock size tires on my '86. And I think that my speedometer is off.... What would be an easy way to check this??? without involving the cops

And assuming that it is off... How do I go about correcting this problem?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!

You can check it by keeping pace with a friends truck, Making note of your speed at when your friends going  30,40,50,55, and 65.
You can try to correct it by changing the gears for the speedo.Or take it to your local speedometer shop.

Thats what I figured, but I have never messed with a speedometer, so I wanted to see before I screwed something up... Thanks a lot.

just take it to a shop and they will calibrate it.  it wont cost much.   call your local shops and they'll tell you if they do this or recommend a shop 4 u

if you live near an interstate, look at their mile markers and note your speedo.  If your speedo says you went .8 miles and you pass another mile stick, well, your rear end has a modified gear ratio now due to tires.   If your speedo says you went 1.2 miles between yardsticks, well your wheels are too small. Either way, shops will have the plastic gears to put on end of speedo cable to calibrate it.

That really depends.  Being in law enforcement, i know the shops that do calibrations around me, and as said, ask around, the guys in the business know who does calibrations.  About a mile from me, an AC shop does calibrations.
