NEED ADVISE ON DISC BRAKE CONVERSTION

I have a 1981 short bed 1/2 ton 10 bolt rear end
i want to put disc brakes  on the rear
any one out there know the cheapest way to do it
i got prices on brake kits  starting at 800.00 as low as 600.00
can any one give some info my way
