because you don't need all that tension to keep the hood up...the original springs are overkill
Try to do some under hood work with low tension springs, while during a slight breeze "WHAP"
Been there done that enough times with worn out springs
Any hood from the 50's- Early Eighties, hurt like a dude and will leave a lasting impression(Factory Aluminums ain't a walk in the park either)
