chassis interchange
« on: March 20, 2008, 08:25:49 pm »
I have an 81 c-10 with an excellent cab and bed, bad front end, and a 250, also have an 83 suburban with a decent body, 350 and 700-r4. Does anyone know if the frames are the same? I am thinking of putting the pickup cab and bed on the suburban chassis, since it is in much better shape. I know the gas tanks will have to change, but I am not sure about the rest. Any help would be great!!   Todd

I haven't put the tape to it, you may be right about the wheel base. I live in oklahoma. Was just thinking that if the frames were the same, changing bodies might be easier than swapping eveything else, but it may just have to be. I bought the suburban for 600 bucks, no brakes, new booster in the back and the thing has a perfect front clip and doors, drives like a cadillac, and runs decent to boot. Bought it mainly for the front clip but it has alot of other good stuff on it also.

Wheel base is different, Frame, & body mounts are all different from behind the seats back. Use the clip on the truck, Or better yet turn the burb into a four door truck. Cut off the roof, use the rear wall of a cab behind the rear seat. Make it different and cool! Just an idea!!
