converting a fridge to deer hanger question
« on: November 16, 2016, 11:21:56 AM »
well i live in maryland and temps can fluctuate very much. we normally will hang a deer for about a week if the temp allows it. but here recently it might be below 40 but then in two days its back in the 70s. i have access to a few different style fridges one was part of a computer room. about 20'x15' room with servers in it. there was two unites too keep them cool. the other are for a rv it was a pretty big one (something 30+) with two units on it.

i know you want to keep the meet below 40 but above 32. so if we were to build a nice little ice box to hang 3 or 4 deer in how would we go about keeping the humidity under control. ive heard some say you dont have to worry about it and some say you do. my father in-law insist that it will effect the taste of the meat. so if it possible to keep that under control then it would be a whole lot easier to convince him to build it on his property.

one of my main things is there has been a whole lot of road kill on the side of the road right now. and im not apposed to pick it up if i can have a date on it and the temp stayed cool. and some say if you hang a deer in the fridge then use a bag to cover it with a few holes in the bottom so it can drain and the bag will let the deer not dry out

Because who needs the laundry room when it can be a meat locker.

now we're thinking lol. but was talking to my barber yesterday and as soon as i told him we cut up our own deer he lost it. he's another redneck that loves to hunt, so the ideal popped in my head about making slide in reefer box with a small winch on it and go to peoples houses and pick deer up or have it so they can just drop them off. so they too can let their deer hang in my cooler.

well the one a/c i was thinking of using wont turn out. it was one of two in a computer room my buddy just got. it would cool but too much, its a 5 ton or 60,000 BTUs. thats like having 3 to 6 or more window units as theyre 8000-24000
