Blazer frame/body mount brackets
« on: June 13, 2008, 12:06:22 am »
Hi,
i am a new member from New Hampshire. I am restoring a 1987 Blazer , I will be posting my project soon (i'm into it deep!) . My blazer suffers from extensive rust. Does anyone know where i can get body mount brackets that are riveted to the frame or ideas on repairing/fabricating the brackets. the problem is that they are rusted where the body mounts fit in and the holes are enlarged.  thanks for the help.

Welcome aboard from New Hampshaa! What neck of the woods are you from?
I usually just weld a fabricated plate onto the old bracket to close the hole back up. Not sure if GM still offers the mounts or not. A junk yard might be your best bet. I have swapped them before on a pickup to get rid of rust issues.

Yeah thats my wheeling rig. It made it twice out of about 12 runs, would have had a few more runs but the starter stopped working. Filled with mud, imagine that. Took it apart, washed it out with ice water from the cooler, re assemble it, fired right up. Shes been around a long time, I bought it in 96. It had an 8 year rest until last fall though.
I have been through Dalton a few times over the years. was born and raised in Danbury, still live here! Its about half way between White River Junction V.T., and the big lake.

Hi,
i got complete body mounts and hardware today. I can post pics if anyone wants. I know when i took my old ones out they were so bad i had to cut many bolts and parts were disintergrated. It will be a while before i get to put these in because i have to still restore the frame and fix the body mount brackets on the frame.
