dually fenders on long bed?
«

Can I buy dually fenders and put them on any single wheel long bed, or is there a difference between long bed and long bed dually?
I am thinking about going away from the flatbed and going with a pickup bed.

Dually Bedsides are the same as the Non-Dually Models, but I want to say that you would have to trim away the Original Non-Dually Wheel Opening, after you add dually flares or you will run into clearance issues....

I have seen dually fenders by a company called Arrowcraft. They sell conversion kits and might carry your fenders.

As Dragon said, the wheel opening is bigger on a dually bed. I would think you could trim the single wheel bed.

Ditto, as said above, you trim the single to make them fit.

Converted a 3/4 ton to a dually about 30 years ago, get GM fenders if at all possible and just take your time measuring and marking your holes to drill for the mounting points. Also look at a factory dually to see how much trimming is necessary on the wheelwells and for fender placement. Make sure you figure out the wheel/lug situation as well as I remember we had issues back then, but now with all of the wheels available it should be an easy swap.

Swapping a new bed on shouldn't affect the wheel lugs any.

the bed does not effect the lugs, it was the selection of steel wheels 30 years ago and the factory lugs were barely long enough to accomodate dual wheels. Certainly with todays wheels and various lugs/studs available you can make it work and this is in reference to the use of the stock 14 bolt 3/4 ton axle, 1978 model.

The factory dually pickups used an extra wide dana 70 axle....converting a single wheel truck to a dually would require the complete dana 70 as the 14 bolt track is too narrow....the factory dually 2wd pu also came standard with a rear sway bar ...your best option is to find a parts/non running factory dually for all the components ...usually less than $1000.00 in todays market ....that way you should have all the parts you need

Alex, I believe the "Cab & Chassis" rear is confusing you. The Cab & Chassis rear is narrower, not that the dually is wider. Lorne
