Timbrens?
« on: November 25, 2008, 08:33:58 pm »
Has anybody here used these? http://www.timbren.com/ses-kits.htm

My truck rides fine at stock height, but when I hang the plow it's a little to much (I've already got 1 primary tube on my headers to repair).  If I hit a bump with the plow on it crushes the rubber bump stop bad.  I was checking prices on an add-a-leaf kit and these and the price works out a little cheaper for these.  BTW, my front springs are 3" wide 3 leaf setups. (the truck was equipped with the plow package).

I've read reviews on the web about them, but most of the reviews were for newer vehicles.

My plow was half price if i took the truck with it.

I have never used them on the front of a rig. I had a set on the rear of one of my old plow trucks. I plan on installing a set I robbed from a 99 I stripped a few months back on the rear of my 86.
I have added into the front spring pack a rear positive arch spring to my plow trucks before. Have used from Chevy, and Ford. Ford rear leaves are 3" wide, they seemed to fit / look better being the same width.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

Thanks Blazin,  I'll keep my eyes open for new springs.

I think I'll go with the Timbrens on the front this year and look at redoing springs when the weather gets better.  I think the reason I have this problem is I lost the ballast the PO's sander provided him.  I had heard the loud "bang" when I first got the truck, but I attributed it to something else as the cab was being supported by wood blocks at the time.
