Went back last night. Air was a little cooler which was nice. Cleaned my K&N too. Best run though was still only 14.95. My MPH was good every pass though at 91.xx so just still have to get my launch figured out. Was trying to launch at 1100 and then quickly roll in the throttle. Tires were aired up to 40 PSI and worked much better that way than 26 PSI. I tried one run at 1250 launch but I got flustered when the tree went green and kinda pooched my start. My carb stumbles a little too so my 60' were all in the 2.3 to 2.4 range. Gotta get that 2.2 or under.

Sux, Is the truck spinning comming off the line? If so, get some good tires if your serious about your times. Also any stumbling is unacceptable...get rid of it! Were talking hundredths of a second, they add up at the end...You can make a few passes that all feel right & be several hundredth off of each other in 60', so if you can feel it, it's allot!  Lorne

Well it will spin if I launch any higher than 1300 it seems. Either that or my brakes won't hold it or it just starts to burnout. My burnt-out gov-lok isn't helping anything either, as it's basically a peg-leg now. New tires would just be a good idea anyway and I'm so suspicious of my carb, I'm just thinking of springing for a new one. It's 10 years old now.

I just found this on my local dragstrips website. This is from June 12. So yep, that's me and my truck at the track :)

cool pic man... I just raced my 81 swb 2 weeks ago... I am having traction issues aswell... It worked better with lower air .... 18 psi... with a burnout on 295/50/15 national street tires.... hmmm....
I wonder if traction bars would help our trucks.

Caltrac (which we sell) help significantly when properly adjusted on leafspring pickups.

Not too shabby for a pickup
Heck my friends got a VW Jetta GLI and I think stock times on those are mid 15's

I'm going to air my tires up to 45 PSI just to try it out and then dump them down maybe to 18 PSI just to try out extremes.

Yep yep.  Those caltracs work.  I felt the difference between them and the cheap slapper bars(I tried them both).  Caltracs and some ET streets would be awesome in your truck.
