I finally was able to keep my 73-87 obsession under control.  I spotted this 79 crew cab at a county auction today.  It was a bare bones truck with 41k on it. The body was real clean as far as rust goes.
It had some things I knew that GM made, I just never seen in person.  I've never seen a 3/4 ton crew cab before, I know a few guys here own then, all the other ones I've seen were always 1 tons.  It had no power steering, again, I've read about it, but never seen it.  The 1 odd thing that I noticed was that it had a single gas tank on the passenger side. There was no evidence of it ever having dual tanks (no dash switch).
It went to a good home for $2500.  I spotted the buyers square body crew cab dually 4x4 in the parking lot. I couldn't miss it with the stacks & Cummins sticker in the rear window.  He said this truck will also get a 6BT someday.

The first step is admitting it Fitz, but is it really under control or just slightly tammed. Mine is under control by anorexic shape of my wallet or I'd have my suburban awaiting a Cummins swap already.

That truck was from out your way in Berkshire County.  It was a cool truck in decent shape.  I gotta finish up some loose ends on the trucks I have before buying anymore, unless I find an old plow truck.

Usually a thick stack of $100's can break that bond. Just sayin.

The auction bug struck again.
Picked up an 87 M1008.
Its rusty but complete.
I put 2 fresh batteries in it and it fired up & drove it on the trailer.
The collection is growing.

This one is pretty rusty.
Good call on the 1984, all of the Military Cucv's (1984-1987) were built to the 1984 specs by GM.

Paid $525 for it.
like I said, its a rot box.
It does run & drive, but not road worthy.
Its complete, so all the parts I want are there, Dana 60 / 14 bolt with 4.56 gears & rear Detroit locker.  The 6.2 starts right up and the turbo 400/208 seem to shift good.
This truck will get parted out, or it could live out its final day as a farm truck for someone.
