We have had a LOT of rain here in Georgia this spring and summer. I have found myself WISHING for ABS on several occasions. Otherwise, I'm still having lots of fun with the truck.

I cant remember if your 'shaker' air cleaner is an open element.

If yes, does driving in the rain act like water injectors of about 40 years ago? 

I still have one I bought Mid 80's.

The shaker pan has two drains in it and the base is raised under the filter element, so I don't think it allows that much water in. It's actually really fun to watch the filter lid in the rain as the engine vibration will cause water to pool and "dance" around on the lid while I'm driving. I had an issue of literally filling the entire top end of the engine before I put drainage in the shaker pan, and found that the rear most and more active drain is *PERFECTLY* sized for an acorn to obstruct it... so I have had to pull spark plugs and let water out twice, but both times the engine was static, not running.

Lucky for you Jeremy...

Mid nineties, I pulled a toy house with a '73 C30 3+3 Chevy. 454, added a "the" water injector system and could run regular gas.

I would mix the water with rubbing alcohol, H2O2, and it was wonderful.

Just before takeoff, I would draw the mix into the line going to the top of the air cleaner, where it would spray down the carb.

One trip, I got distracted after priming it, and boom! Hydro-lock, bent rod, sad kids and wife.

Good thing my buddy had a K-30 he lent me for the weekend...Disaster averted.

Got to rebuild the BB with a RV cam, and I tell you the truth: with loaded 5th wheel in tow, between 25-3500 RPM, it felt like there was nothing behind me.
