I used to cut keys in the 80's, at the parts store I worked at...the blanks cost less a dime apiece, and took me about 2 minutes to do...

I worked on my engine a little bit today and will probably put it in my truck this week. I installed the flywheel, water pump, made sure it was TDC, and installed the valve covers (hardware came in), will probably have to remove them when I drop it in my truck to give me a little more clearance. Prior to installing in my truck, I will try to mount to wire looms and distributor so I can go ahead and get the wires the right length to make it easier.

So you would consider. 0025 to be loose?? Without the .0001 bearing im getting .0015 which i feel is too tight. Do not want to run the vr1 20w50 like everyone is saying because i feel it is way too thick. Which is why i chose 15w40 but been going back and forward between rotella 15w40 an driven 10w40

Sounds like someone give you bad advice. I bet if you were to call Eagle and tell them your plan they would write your name down to void your warranty. Why do you want to build a loose tolerance around a multi-viscosity oil?  ??? .001" is bullseye

My local Mazda dealership wanted $650.00 to cut and program 2 keys for my wife's Mazda 5.
Needless to say we found other options.  :P

Performance / Connecting rod bearing clearance
« Last post by dieselman123 on May 18, 2024, 11:28:56 AM »
Im building a 383 with a eagle 383 stroker kit. Im getting .002 on the connecting rod bearing using plastic gauge but want to have .0025 to .003 to be able to run 15w40. This measurement is with the king bearing with the extra .0001 clearance using the upper and lower bearing. What can be done to achieve the extra clearance or am i ok to run 15w40 rotella diesel oil with .002. Could i mix undersized bearings maybe. Please help

Fuel Systems and Drivability / Re: EFI conversion fuel delivery?

Hey Shifty, I've considered that but I like the larger capacity dual tank set up. I'll be using it for some hauling so the extra fuel will be nice to have.
Gotcha!  Still, even if you're going to get 8mpg, that's still over 200 miles...

Mr. Diesel, Im leaning towards option 1. Found a company that makes after market tanks with sending/pump units that are pre plumbed for return lines. Makes for a clean install for sure. Its a little pricy so I was looking for a reasonable plan b. Still, I dont mind spending the extra $ for ease of installation.
