Thats insane all those exhaust shops are that expensive. I been around pricing getting new pipes put on my truck. Header installation and new true dual 3 inch pipeing exiting where ever you choose and tips runs about $250-$300 at most shops here. Theres a guy that runs a special, 2.5 inch tru duals from manifolds coming out where ever you want, $125.

Most shops are at least $65/hr and let's just say 4 hours labor right there that's $260 in labor without materials and tax. Around here Most garages are around $90/hour. Where do you live?X-pipes help balance the exhaust backpressure and equalize flow with less restriction than an H-pipe. There's nothing wrong with an H-pipe either as they aren't as obstructive and are a little easier to work around.
