Cool truck. That things come a long way.
-
thanks guy's, it sure has, I would of never thought in my dreams it would of turned out like this, I wish a few things turned out better than it did and I wished I shaved the firewall, tailgate, and added the sport mirrors, but oh well I guess it not bad for a 19 year old and my first vehicle
-
Here some pics of what the interior looks of now except I shortened the light switch pull rod, and wired the heater switch, and started to move my radio to where the a/c heater control was but I ran out of cutting blades for my black and Decker dremel, and I picked up the bench seat at the junk yards that I got for a steal, I made some kick panels out of galvanized steel, and going to re-dye the headliner trim blue

Those are great pics! I really like the detail on the tribal flames. Is that a tape or is that done by hand(blue outline)?
-
the blue outline is done by a pin stripping paint roller
-
No kidding that's pretty cool.
-
Great looking truck :) awsome detail!!
-
thanks guy's
-
I have seen your truck before on other sights aswell. Thanks for the close ups on the flames. Very well done. Did you use blue pearl in your white base for the whole truck?
-
thanks, all of the white has blue pearl
-
looks killer !
-
They both do!?!? ::)
-
thanks

After a 6 months of wait I finally I got my door panel's from the upholster today. but they make every thing else look bad

Really nice truck. What brand lowering kit and/or components did you use and how much is it lowered?
-
Thanks, I ordered all my lowering parts from summit racing 3" djm coils and 3" summit springs "ground force" for shocks I used toxic shocks, back beltec flip kit and c-notch, with 3 out 8 leaf spring remaining and beltec shocks, supposedly lowered 6-7

Nice, but I like the diamond tread pattern better. But don't hurt dad's fellings keep the wood. Are you going to change the piece around your gauges?
-
thanks I'm going to get rid of the diamond plate and fiber glass the bezel and paint white to match the door panels

Now flaming I've always liked your truck everything about it, but i have to say IMO the rims are too small or something idk they just bother me
-
thanks, the wheels are little small but they give it a pro street look, and eventually I'm going to add back a few leafs so it will lift up the rear a few inches
-
eventually I'm going to add back a few leafs so it will lift up the rear a few inches
Good thinkin'. Some rake would suit that truck nicely.
-
I agree your truck looks great but with bigger wheels and some rake it would be killer.
-
IMO it looks great like it is but instead of adding a leaf I'd cut a 1/2 or a whole coil and add the factory air foil under the front bumper.
-
I got a question for you. I couldnt tell by the pics cause the black on black was tough to see. But your gauge cluster, did you make the black back piece or was it stock? And if it was stock what did you have to do to get the gauges to pop out like that. I am looking into either custom making the gauge area adn putting gauges in that way or I was going to just use the stock back piece and mount the gauges on it that way but wasn't sure how they would come out.
-
if it doesn't rain tomorrow I'll start with adding one leaf and see where it goes, I can't go any lower with coils the the 27" tires rub the inner fenders badly and the lower control arms are about two inches off the ground or less
(http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r316/flamingc10/IMAG1487.jpg)

the black bezel cover is sheet metal that I made, and along time ago I just had the smaller gauges mounted to factory bezel

The rake looks good 8) I like it.
-
thanks for the help...i saw your pedal covers I have those same ones on my dodge they work pretty well and last a long time...mine are started to get worn tho. might have to get some new ones soon.
-
thanks 69, no problem exilous, my pedal covers are from walmart, and they have been on the truck for 3 years and they look the same as I got theme
-
Very nice job. That rake looks awesome.
-
thanks even
-
Looks good!
-
thanks capt
-
Your Truck is looking great ;D
Nice attention to detail. Keep up the great work !!
-
thanks
-
You definately have the right stance. It looks great with the rake, but I have always prefered a raked look on a truck instead of level. I guess thats why I went with a rake on my tan truck. You have done an awesome job on that truck.Well done.
-
thanks choptop, I like the rake two, I think I might add 20/22 to it
-
thanks choptop, I like the rake two, I think I might add 20/22 to it
If you did, I think youd ruin it. Its all a matter of preference, not my opinion. I say ruin it loosely, it would be hard to ruin that truck, but I dont think it would have the same attitude.
-

after I thought about it I'll stay with 15s, but I might change the 8" wheels and go with 10" in the back with a 295/50
-
I dont think a big set of wheels would ruin your truck, I think it would look killer with a big set of wheels. But it is your truck so it is a matter of personal preference do what you like, either way it would look good.
-
It's up to your taste, but I'm partial to the current look. You've got a nice little Pro Street truck right now. Big wheels would completely change it to a Pro Touring look (I don't think it would ruin it though).
-
i personally like the 15's on your truck and ya... 10's would look good... I have 8 on the front and 10 (295/50) on th back of mine and looks good, but I wish i had 10's on the front too...
Love the look of your truck.... the stance is A1
-
thanks guys, I believe I'll keep the pro street look, and I might narrow and tub the rear and add 15x12s or 14s in the back
(http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r316/flamingc10/IMAG1662.jpg)

-
I vote narrow and tub the rear and 14s in the back
Joe
-
I second that vote :)
-
3rd vote ;D
-
How about 20x15s that way you have the best of both worlds.
-
it might be a wile before I get to tubing and narrowing the rear with 15 x14, and look for tires and couldn't find any that wide that I liked and I might be going for 15x12s with Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R Tires

-
thanks, I got the grille from summit racing and it took a little work to fit the parking light, I had cut the parking light mounting tabs off and the grille has L shaped brackets so I used to long screw to mount the lights

Do you have a pic of the interior with the passenger door open? I'm curious how you got the checker plate bent around that sharp end at the end of the dash.
-
yes I do and the edge that's closest to the door is tucked under the dash cap
(http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r316/flamingc10/IMAG1191.jpg)
-
Thanks. How thick was the diamond plate? Was it really hard to bend it to that shape?
-
its thin maybe a 1/8 thick but it was easy to bend though
-
Thanks for letting me know. I got a project in mind.
-
several new parts, plug wires. alternator, replacement pedal pads, dome light, tail pipes, stock tail lights, sport bumper, added a extra courtesy lamp, redid the gauge cluster, now I can read the gear indicator and indicator lights, and got the back up lights to work for the first time in 3 years

new frame I picked up
(http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r316/flamingc10/001-5.jpg)
-
Looks like a great start.
-
Why the new frame?
-
mines bent pretty bad and it was cut down to short bed and they didn't do the greatest job
-
that is a good reason.
-
I too wondered why the new frame. I can understand why, no welding that somebody else done, no bends lol. I thought maybe yours was rusty or something.
-
my old frame has no rust
-
great build man keep up the progress!

After 3 tries I finally got a good 4l80e the first try was from lkq the pan was full of metal, so they sent me another one from up north some where and it was a 4l60e so I called them and they said we don't have any more 4l80e and will come and get and give you your money back, so I went to another yard and got one for $200 less and it only has 30,000 miles. Painted the tb and belt tensor and installed a arp crank pulley bolt. Yesterday swapped over the suspension from the good frame to my truck so I can start cleaning up and painting the parts, also will be replacing the floor pans the first time I used the cover over pans, so I picked up some pans from the forum store so I pulled the gas tank from my truck and gutted the interior, wile was tearing down the suspension my dad was pulling out the patch panels and started cutting out the driver side pan

didn't get much done today because of this
(http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r316/flamingc10/100_2798.jpg)
I left the three inch drop springs in for a simple install
(http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r316/flamingc10/100_2799.jpg)
and for some reason the floor pans are really short where they start to angle up so it looks like have to cut some metal off the old patch panels

I was quoted $300 to modify my harness from a guy on Ft. Worth. He has lots of knowledge in it, actually has a 5.3 in his 86 Sub. i can check with him for you if you want. He's close to you and that'll help on the convenience if questions arise.

its alive, it took me two days to figure it out though why the starter would engage but not turn the motor over, first I had a new solenoid put on the starter, same thing the starter would engage but not turn the motor over, checked the battery it was putting out 12.8 volts, so had the starter tested at orielly auto parts, tested bad, so got a new rebuilt starter put it on same thing, so took the plugs out to see if the motor was hydro locked did the same thing, pulled the trans off to see if it was binding up look ok, then I thought I don't have a single ground on the engine so added one directly to the starter bolts to the block turned right over, then got the trans bolted back in turned right over so cranked it for a little bit to prime the oil system hooked up the ecm power primed the fuel pump and fired right up let it run for about 15 second and Idled right up but still need get a trans plug or tail shaft so I can get more the 6 qts of trans fluid with out it making a mess on the floor, put coolant in it, make power steering hoses, and hook up a oil pressure gauge
I also got a few other things done in the past week

Looking good! I would think the hose clamp on the PS hose wouldn't be sufficient. Are you going to trim the lower rad hose?
-
thanks, the power steering hoses are for mock up and I'm just using emission hose, and the radiator hose are trimmed and clamped

Wow. You are getting close now. I just went back and reread your thread. You've done a lot of nice work. I just assumed that you were going to repaint it also. Glad your not. Your paint is one of kind and it just wouldn't be the same without out.
-
thanks, the repaint was just under the hood items, and touch up on the outside, I'll have to wait on the hood and fenders to be painted since I spent almost all my truck money on tools for work so I will have to wait till May till my income will be in its happy spot till I get the paint work done
-
That looks to be a little crammped for working space ? But it looks good with the fender back on.
-
If the weather is nice I'll pull it out on the driveway. I got the vehicle registration and the truck ready for the safety inspection I drove it about 8 miles filled it up with gas ended up spilling all over place, the while I was driving I slowed down real quick at the traffic light, the truck died and lost complete power for about 10 seconds then every thing came back on and started right when I got back home I founds the positive battery terminal made contact with the battery tray and and burned a hole in the tray and melted the terminal but so fare every thing else look fine, also fixed the fuel filler so it will vent, I did give it a good 3/4 throttle while I was passing a car at 30 mph, the rear end felt light and it chirped the tires when it shifted
(http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r316/flamingc10/100_0042.jpg)

-
That sucks about the battery tray, but hey gotta love it when a vehicle will chirp those tires when shifting into a higher gear. ;D
-
Now you know where you need to clearance your drop down and you don't even need a sharpie ;) I mounted mine with a kill switch near the box

thanks vile, I had two fuel leaks one at the return line at the sender and the other at the tank ended up having to get a new sender and tank, good thing the tank was under warranty at orielly auto parts, got a few things done, front end alignment, bolted up the bumper, grille, hood, radio and inspection.

best pass so far is a 8.07 with a 1.84 60, and a 8.37 1/8 12.92 1/4 on street tires with a 2.02 60 ft
