Had some vacation and general lack of motivation due to the 100+ degree days these past few weeks so progress has been a little slow.  I've been able to make bursts of progress but had a bit of a setback with the passenger door gap and my replacement quarter panel.  All the gaps are pretty close but I had to cut out a piece of the quarter because it was sitting too far out.  I cant remember If I fit the door before I did the final welding but from what I can tell, I did not.  I'll probably have to readjust the door and fender when I fix the quarter but that won't be too bad.

Steering Columns / Re: '83 Ignition Switch/Key Cylinder Woes

Hi,

Yeah, I ended up getting it.  I was trying to separate the turn signal/lock cylinder housing portion of the column from the rest of the column.  I found that the manual transmission/non-tilt columns  are different in that you have to remove the whole column housing and there are three screws on the underside that you have to remove to separate that section.  You can't just remove the four screws and remove the turn signal/lock cylinder housing like on the automatic transmission columns.  I got it all back together this morning and it's ready to hit the road.  Thanks everyone for their help.

I am not following.  Are you trying to get the Turn Signal Housing removed?

I might be missing something, but I can't get the turn signal/lock cylinder housing free from the rest of the column.  I removed the four bolts holding this housing in, but it won't budge.  Are there any tricks to removing this section?  This is a manual transmission truck with the release tab.  Is there anything I'm missing with the key release tab to get the housing freed up?  The turn signal switch, key cylinder, and ignition switch are all removed from the column.

As a year has gone by thought I'd give you an update, the pump is still working fine and the fault hasn't recurred so will just keep using it, not every day with the price of fuel what it is, and enjoying it, still got plenty of jobs to do, mainly body and paint.

Yes. In fact the cable routing in 79 was pretty bad so modify it as you see fit as long as it works.

General Discussion / Re: Will a 73-87 fit in a Shipping Container?

I winched mine in from the outside ran a pulley off the 2 rear most tie downs back to the front of the Burb. Slow and steady and if you have to winch alone, real low tire pressure keeps the truck from rolling on it's own.

Hey all,

So, I have a 1979 C-10, Bit Ten. Trying to finish up my LS Swap and I'm at the point where I can get the exhaust finished up.

The truck, of course, was originally a SBC 350, and the exhaust was in just a different place. My Exhaust runs just over or just under the parking brake cables and rods. I don't think 1/8" clearance is enough..... Have any of you relocated your Parking Brake gear to clear exhaust?

Thanks in advance,
Will in Chicago.

No help to push really but I have a 12k winch in the front and a master kill switch on the dash. I also have rear sliding glass which I am WAY to big to fit through but could trip the kill switch through it and it cuts power to everything on the truck.
This is why I want to at least get a double door so I can hook my winch up through the container onto another truck. I had also thought about just leaving it in neutral. Harbor Freights has some wheel chocks on sale, I'll get some today maybe.

Thanks for the suggestions, I do almost everything alone so getting tips from guys like you who figured out the easiest way is fantastic!
