What is this Leak? pic
« on: January 06, 2009, 09:40:36 pm »
I moved my truck after sitting for 2 weeks, and found this nice stain on the floor. Its kind of a rusty-chunklets-in-a-puddle-of-light-oiley-stuff kinda-vibe to it.
any thoughts on that?
i dont see much leakng around from the trans area, but that doesnt mean thats not it.. maybe some spraying PS hose or something? I look, but can't find the source.

like ccz said what was it under and put something like a dollar bill next to it to show how big it is " how bad of a leak"

+1 If it doesn't look like it is coming from the trans pan gasket edge, then I would ask if your truck has a Trans Cooler(Either external mount, or on the Radiator)....  If it does have a trans cooler, I would thoroughly inspect the cooler lines/connections....

My truck has a mystery leak that kinda looked like that the other day minus the chunky stuff
Checked the tranny juice and was 1pt low
Looked at the front seal area, it fine.
Cooler lines check OK
Snugged all the pan bolts
Checked the shifter seal, OK
The modulator and tailshaft were clean
Wiped the trans pan clean with some Presolve, and looked for 5 minutes
then i saw a drip
turned out the pan had a pinhole

Got a new pan on the way
