Questions about the VSS
« on: February 14, 2009, 04:27:09 pm »
I had to change my governor gear a while ago because my truck wouldn't shift out of first. I got the new gear in fine, and it shifted. However, when I took it out to make sure it was going to shift, the speedometer AND odometer stopped working. I thought I just knocked something loose, but everything looks fine down there. I've been getting code 24, which is something about my VSS. Is the VSS where the speedo cable hooks up to the tailshaft on the transmission (700R4)? I'm not sure exactly what's going on, because my speedometer cable would tick like it was dried up, but if the speedometer cable went bad, I didn't think the engine light would come on. I don't want to buy a speed sensor if that's not even the problem.

If everything was working before you worked on it, double check everything. Check your connections and wiring.
