shifting problems
« on: May 30, 2009, 10:49:51 pm »
I have a 1978 Chev 3/4 ton that I use for crop spraying.  It has been converted to a 6.2 diesel, it is a 4x4 with 36X12.5X16.5 wheels, just awesome in muddy fields.  Anyway, I work in low range on the transfer case and second gear on the transmission.  Everything works fine is just won't shift automatically, you have to put the lever in low, then drive a bit and get the revs right then move it to second, then the same thing for high.  Sort of like driving a standard and trying to shift without a clutch.  It has all worked well for a few years since the engine conversion,  and it still pulls 500 gallons of water/spray around on fields so it isn't slipping.  Any ideas of whats wrong?  Any help appreciated.  Thanks.
