82 SWB Project starting in 3 weeks!
« on: June 04, 2009, 01:31:45 am »
Hello everyone,

Here are a bunch of pics of a project that I will be starting in approximately three weeks time.  I plan on working in the evenings as time permits and quite a bit on the weekends.

Most of the rust is surface except the spot right behind the door where the hand is visible.  That was the biggest spot of damaging rust, and there is another on the opposite side of the truck, but much smaller.

I've purchased a GM service manual for the 1982 c10-30 series light duty trucks from Ebay.  Someone recommended checking there, and viola!  Cost me around $50 but after looking through it, it was WELL worth it, IMO.

Correction:

The rust spot is behind the drivers side rear door.  Sorry, it's late  ;)

Whats your plans for a front bumper, roll pan, original or newer (83-up)? I should have an 81-82 bumper ts just a matter of locating it.

My plan is to replace it as I would imagine that it would cost more to rechrome than to replace.

Looks like it would be a great project. Been in the family for years and appears to be unmolested.

Heck yeah, I'm totally psyched.  Looking for crate engines at the moment.  Was thinking longblock 350 or turnkey 350.  Any ideas, links, prefs, recommendations?
