parking gear works sometimes.
« on: July 19, 2009, 03:40:42 pm »
It's a 350 tranny and when I put in park, it won't stop rolling. But not all the time. And when i move the truck back and forth it will catch, but it takes a while sometimes. Can I fix it without dropping the tranny? I heard it's a bad parking pin? thanks.

The parking pawl may be OK. If not, it may be possible to change w/o dropping the tranny.
If the output ring gear has lost some teeth, its time for removal and disassembly.

Adjust your linkage and make sure it's tight

The indicator on the column has no mechanical connection to the selector at the transmission.  So don't use that as you're go-by.  Get someone to move the shifter, while you watch at the linkage from under the truck to see if it's tight.  I don't need to mention do this only with the engine off and wheels choked, do I? :P

i know at the zone one time this guy tried to sue us cause now this is what he said "we told him to get a filter" and he did cant remember what number it was but it ended up blowing off going down the road he  then took it to a shop after calling us and blaming us they rechanged what oil he had left and no problems, never heard from him again. we then had a new policy we would not tell people what part they need but actually go get it for them commonsense doesn't tell you hey these filters don't look the same but i guess it will work. nother ex. autozone trying to save there butts. when you want a new battery autozone will put it in but Will NOT take any payments of any type tips or any other favors, just so they can say hey he volunteered to put it in we have no controle what a volunteer does.

No, not a question like yours.  Irish was talking about my smart comment.  There is a thread here about all the stupid warning signs out there.
