My truck killed for some reason the other day. Choke light was on.
« on: September 01, 2009, 01:38:03 pm »
Hey,
I actually drove my truck the other day. its been running great. but get this:
I turned onto my street and got on the throttle a bit brought it up to 45 rather quickly, and then drove about a mile on partial throttle. when I came to a stop to turn into my driveway, the truck killed and the choke light was on.. it turned over, but wouldnt start.. I pushed it into the driveway. tried to start it but it was like trying to start it when its cold. It wouldnt start. with the pedal pushed down it would  want to start, but then would only  put-put-put a few times then kill.

anyway... any ideas on why maybe throttling it up aggressivly may be involved?

Is your trucks name christine? I think you mean it stalled? I know it's obvious but you didn't run it out of gas did you?

yes both tanks are full. I started it today and moved it up into the garage. Its acting the same, just wants to put-put out. It takes heavy throttle bursts to keep it going. if I let it go to idle, the engine stops. It was running great before this too. crap.

Vaccum hose came off?  Choke light came on because the engine stalled and lost oil pressure, right?

Did the distributor move? Do you have good spark? Do you have fuel delivery?

sorry for the delay in my response. Jiminy my mechanic buddy stopped over and hit the egr valve with a hammer and it ran normally again. he suggested that I get a new one (which I did) and slapped it in there. I think it runs even better than ever now.
thanks for your replies.
