sensor for WOT?

on my truck i noticed that theres a sensor mounted to the gas pedal braket and when i push the pedal to WOT the arm of the pedal pushes against the sensor...does anyone know what this is for?

It's the kickdown solenoid for your tranny.

so when thats pushed it tells the tranny to shift down? because if im going slow enough it will downshift before pushing the sensor

It's not a sensor, it's a switch. The switch is used to energize the detent solenoid in a TH400 transmissions.
