oil pressure and coolant/engine temp

Hey everyone, I just got a 1986 chevy half ton with the 350 4 barrel. Was wondreing if anyone knows what my engine temp and oil pressure should be at under normal driving conditions? My temp. stays around 230 degrees, even after a coolant flush.Maybe bad thermostat? My oil pressure hangs around 20 when idlling, maybe Oil pump? Any help would be great. Thanx

Sounds a bit warmer than it should be. Does it over heat? An new t stat couldn't hurt it any.
 Oil pressure is more than an oil pump. If your rod, main, and or cam bearings are worn it will result in low oil pressure. A new pump might help some but if it is bearing wear it won't make a huge difference.

My chevy hasn't overheated yet, but was concerned about the high temp. I'll try a thermostat. If a bearing was going wouldn't it be making some noise? The motor sounds great except for a small exhaust manifold leak that gives me a small tick. Thanx for the info

There's nothing wrong with 20 PSIG oil pressure. If you want to try a heavier oil that will help. I agree change T-stat flush radiator and see what happens

Bearings can wear and not make any noise. I have pulled bearings out of a perfectly good running motor and had them be completely defaced.

really? i thought that would have been to low. I just got an 87 v20 but its been messed with.  supposedly it has a 383 with a 400 tranny, and the oil pressure seemed to me to be very low. what is acceptable driving down the road?
