u joint problem
« on: October 11, 2009, 10:57:06 am »
I swapped in a 12 bolt from my old 80 truck into my 83.  I have the Neapco 3-3130 conversion joint but it is too short on the pinion side.  My pinion has lugs on the outside that locate the u joint and theres like a 1/8 inch gap.  Any ideas, part #'s?

Thanks

You may have to swap yokes and pinion seals or try another ujoint combo. Here's how I did mine when I built my new driveshaft..

Thanks but what yoke did you use?  Will the one off the 10 fit and then I could use the stock u joint?

I used a 10 bolt yoke but don't recall the application.... It was most likely a corporate 10 bolt.

I would go to Napa and tell them what you need give them the two different applications they will be able to help you out

FYI I had the right u joint, but my pinion is worn out.
