cheap 2-4" lift for 86 3/4 2wd??
« on: April 01, 2009, 08:48:48 PM »
Hi i am looking to lift my truck enough to clear a set of chevy/gm 03 2500hd rims, i do the occasional trail, riverside now and then but nothing extreme.

I can get a pair of new 1 ton springs for the front, lift blocks for the back right? do i need to change out my leaf springs as well?

My main concern is the brake lines and steering arm, i'm hoping with that small of lift that i will be alright. I am a student so price is a huge factor.

The rims should clear no problem. What size tires are you gonna run?
I dont think the one ton springs are going to help much since you already have a 3/4 ton. I have 265/75-16s on Oldyellers truck and dont have much trouble.

The wheels won't be a problem and I know for a fact up to a 265/75/16 tire will be fine.

I put 3/4 ton HD (or 1 ton LD, whichever way you want to look at it) front springs on mine and 1.5 lift blocks in the rear (I already had HD rear springs).

Before

After

In the front shots The angle is different, but look how the control arms angle chenged.  I haven't had any problem with it hitting the bump stops, even though it looks fairly close, and I've been on some nasty roads.

Same size tires, different wheels, stock (over 500,000 mile) suspension.

Based on new info I have been told, if you can fiind C30/454 springs , go for it. I know from experience that 3/4 ton-454 springs would help.

i also have a 3/4t 2wd and i can put 32" tires with 16" rims and they dont rub on the front so you wouldnt need to put any lift at all....but if you want to i would do the 1ton springs and lift block in the back
