emergency brake question

im rebuilding a 1983 chevy c-10 stepside and i need and want to replace the e brake cables, but dont like how its ran one cable up each frame rail with a few hooks to keep them tight against the body (sorry i dont have a pic of how it was or how i want it to be) now my question is how could i use a set up from a 1984 chevy short bed e brake set up, that the cable comes out of the cab on the drivers side, done the driver side frame rail, to a (for lack of better term) junction box, where that cable splits in to 2 cables and , then each one of those goes to either rear wheel, now is it possible to use that on my truck? and where or what can i use for a bracket for the junction box i hope som one can help me thanks

i think i know what your talking about. my 79 has the two going down the frame rail, but on my 86 has the one that goes into a block type thing and then goes into two wires. now that being said it should work and you should be able to make one out of a mid 80's truck work

It is possible to use it on your truck, but you would need the brackets that go on the framerail to secure them.

Are you referring to the equalizer? if so just google it and you will find it or try another vendor. They are still readily available

sory irsh but thanks for the pic that is exactly what i want to use on my truck, now my question for you or anyone is, those 2 brackets right above the (2) number 4's in the pic is it possible to make those do you think? or should i just surf the salvage yards and look for them? thanks again and ill check out and empty my inbox thanks

I'm thinking you could use your old one for the first hanger the second one should be real simple to make. if you go to a junk yard you might have to buy the whole truck unless its just a frame sitting but i think they only came on 84-87

ya your right that they only came on 84-87 ill have to by the e-brake cables etc... and see if i can just make the bracket(s)
