I going to assume this is a daily driver not a trailer queen!

What type of primer is on there now? Urethane, or lacquer based??

You don't have to prime the whole truck. Painting over good factory paint, or a quality repaint is fine.
As far as the hood holding moister as long as it is indoors / warm, and dry for several days or so it should be fine.
As far as what type of primer to use. A urethane based primer is better hands down. It will eventually hold moister, but takes much longer to break down and do so. It is also better for filling, color hold out, and doesn't shrink.

ok iv done some reserch i think im goina go with this primer KEP - DTM Epoxy Prime/Seal
An excellent corrosion resistant primer that offers optimum adhesion and superior hide to many types of properly prepared metal, aluminum, fiberglass and plastic filling materials. DTM Epoxy Prime / Seal, is easy to sand and topcoat with all current base coats. It can be used as a sealer and applied wet-on-wet when reduced with KR Reducers. DTM Epoxy Prime / Seal is chromate free. http://www.tcpglobal.com/restorationshop/rspubprod.aspx

and im not shure on paint yet should i go with ACRYLIC ENAMEL or SINGLE STAGE URETHANE......please give me some guidance

ok so what is the best single stage paint out there ?  and how much paint will it take to paint a whole long bed truck( bumper 2 bumper) inside and out ?
im not really conserned on price but i do plan on painting my truck my self  so i think ill use a single stage sence it is more forgiving i also plan on removing the hood and doors and bumpers whin i do paint....

Epoxy primers are great, One thing all the epoxies I have used are lacking, is they are not great at filling. Urethane primers are heavy bodied. 3 to 5 coats of most brands will fill 80 grit scratches. I have on lots of jobs used one or two light coats of epoxy over the factory paint, and urethane primers loke a sealer, to give a barrier for the new paint to sit on. All one color etc.
