Powerjection III
« on: February 05, 2010, 09:27:23 am »
Has anyone looked into or used the Professional Products Powerjection III fuel injection system?  It looks so easy to install and the price is right.  I thought someday in my future would be a tbi retrofit, but this looks easier and possibly just as cost-effective.  Is a TBI setup from a donor going to be a lot cheaper?  I realize the junkyard parts will be cheap, but assume that its cost adds up here and there like everything else.  Here's a Truckin' article about it:  http://www.truckinweb.com/tech/engine/1003tr_professional_products_powerjection_lll_efi_system/index.html
Sorry if this has already been asked, I searched this site and found nothing.

I think you can put one together WAY cheaper than this from a Donor.  You can buy a whole running beat up truck with TBI  for $1700...

Example assuming you location is correct.

Looks semiuntested to me in terms of people using it.

Chris is right, you can prolly do it cheaper from a retrofit out of a TBI pickup. The downsides is, you gotta somewhat piece it together yourself, you could be dealing with a fairly used throttle body unit, and the amount of power supported is fairly low. The plus side is that GM sold a lot of these pickups and parts are available pretty much everywhere.

If you're building a powerhouse, then the pro products might be the way to go, if you're building a 300 hp or less daily driver, go the 350 TBI retrofit way.

I appreciate the advice.  Some nice craigslist finds too.  I guess what I was thinking was that this thing is brand new and sets up in a few hours and self learns.  With a tbi retrofit from a high mileage truck wouldn't you want to rebuild the throttle body, new pressure regulator, replace every sensor, and have 50 or 60 hours in getting the thing running.  Spend twice as much and get something brand new that is plug and play.  I gotta admit I'm pretty cheap, so I just may end up going tbi anyway.  Again thanks.

Plug & play is easier but if $ isn't an issue go for it

On the same note, I'm hearing good things floating around the interweb about the FAST EZ-EFI setup.
