I'll try and make a long story short. My 79 gets started/ran once a week/cpl weeks to make sure it stays charged/running etc.
So two weeks ago I start the truck up take it for a lil ride down the back roads for a couple of minutes and all is well runs great.
Fast forward two weeks, my cousin gets to my house before me one afternoon and we're going to be dropping the tank to test/replace the sending unit because the gas gauge quit working. He moves the truck for me and says that it WOULD NOT idle at all. We push the truck in the basement with his and yank the tank. Test S/U its bad...so I order a replacement we reinstall tank next weekend. Truck has 1/2 tank of gasoline in it so plenty of gas.
Get tank back in and cousin is correct truck WILL NOT idle period. We pulled the inline fuel filter its not stopped up, stuck the feed side filter in 32oz gatorade bottle cranked over for a few seconds and it filled bottle half full of gas, unhooked rubber hose from SU and blew compressed air from the fuel pump feed line back so its not clogged.
If you crank it 5 or 6 times ONE of those times it might run 30 secs then die, if you keep pressure on the throttle it will run but you must constantly give it throttle? I'm puzzled?

350, Edelbrock 1406 carb, auto zone oem style fuel pump, hei distributor. to give you a few details.
