hood alignment

any easy ideas how the heck to line up the hood on my 77 k-20???  just doenst wanna cooperate

also if the back of the hood when closed wants to sit up and not flush with the fenders, is that a sign i need new hood springs??

That's a good indication you need new hinges. They pop in the back when the hinges get worn out. The springs are fine. As far as alignment goes, make sure the hinges are well oiled and loosen the 4 hood bolts. Loosen the striker plate and carefully latch the hood. Try to keep adjusting it til you get it where you want it. When you open the hood be careful not to move the hood and tighten the bolts. You have to play with them a lot to got the 73-80 hood lines good. Many times you'll need to shim the fenders also to get good gaps. Good luck!

striker plate??? also how do u shim the fenders?

There's 4 12 point bolts on the striker plate on the hood. You shim the fenders where they bolt to the radiator support if the gaps are incorrect.
