Driveshaft Balance Fail.

sooo i guess my truck isnt happy with me. The driveshaft was unbalanced i guess, and chucked a u joint cap at about fifty five last night. I stopped to check the damage and then had to continue like a half mile to find somewhere safe to park the truck...  ill be retriving her tonight. Thank God for four wheel drive.  I guess ill have to send the driveshaft to driveshafts unlimited in arnold, but ill call them tomorrow.

Why do people think its funny to act like they are gonna hit you while your walking down the road at night? i actually walked most of the way home before the wifes brother showed up, and these dbags decided to turn around and mess with me. what i would have gave to have my gun. Not to shoot them, but to shoot at the engine and freak their shoot out.

What makes you think it's out of balance? Even an out of balance driveshaft won't be launching caps without you knowing it first. Check your yoke and u-joint straps. Did you have the retaining clips on the caps?

I had a oe cap almost fly out when the plastic wore out

yea it was all there, the clips were secure and all, im not sure what when wrong, but the yoke is pretty rough...ah well.

i could feel the off balance when i drove. got some narly vibes over 55,

Well with a u-Joint about to fail you will. I would replace the U-joints and see what happens before you send it out for a re-bal

it was a new joint.  but the slip joint was still sticking.

Vile, I had a new u-joint installed last summer when I went through my rear diff debacle but when I went to install the new diff I bought, the u-joint caps easily fell off. Well, one did and some of the needle bearings came out. I carefully retrieved all of them and reinstalled them the right way so there wasn't a problem. But there were no clips to hold the caps on, and again, this was a new joint.

Think Ville meant on the shaft side its either in front or back of the cap where it goes into the axle its just the strap and the tit that sticks up

i think i lost one of the clips, i guess i didnt have it in as well as i thought.

You should be using the clips on the caps on the companion flanges side as well.
