Measurement Questions for LWB-SWB Conversion

Hey guys just picked up my first 1986 c10 LWB and looking to convert it into SWB. I read the articles on it here but no one modified the bed to fit, they just bought a SWB bed to install. Has anyone cut a LWB bed to fit the SWB or know where to make the cuts and how much? And for the frame cut is it 12" by the cab and 2" out back? Any suggestions would be great and when I start project I will post pictures.

Well the only bed mods I remember in the thread were him buying the short bed floor, front panel, tailgate, and bedsides.

Other then the customizatons he done to it, roll pan, tailgate skin, caddy lights.

14" in front of the rear end, I took about 4" off the rear.

You are looking at some serious fab work to cut a LWB down to a SWB, the lower bed pieces are going to be a nightmare.  Hence why it is cheaper to buy a SWB bed.
The bedsides at the bottom are not straight, so you will have to pie those pieces to make it work.

I look further into when truck gets here on Friday. Thanks to AAA car is getting towed 80 miles for FREE   . Had a question on fuel tank needed with this conversion. Found this but dont know which one would be needed.

I used a Blazer/Suburban tank mounted behind the rear end, you can use the smaller tanks(11 gallon) that mount in the stock location.

Don't see a tank in there, but see some stuff I will most likely be purchasing pretty soon.

Tanks are hit or miss on availability, so when you need them email me.
You will need a 16 gallon tank when you shorten it.
