timing for 292-6
« on: May 20, 2010, 06:24:48 pm »
i can't seem to figure out the timing on '74 292-6. i had  harmonic balancer on 0*, and have dist. at #1 plug and all i get is backfire. is it supposed to be 2* btdc or more? could my points be off, they were set right, but might have gotten messed w/ me working in engine bay? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't remember what it is supposed to be factory but I would start at 8 degrees.

I would bring it back to TDC and set the distributor so you can advance it some and then put the plugs back on, BUT yeah, you should be able to loosen it to get it smoother.
