New Serpentine Belt Kit!!
«

Morning, I was looking for a new crank pulley on the Summitracing.com and came across a serpentine belt kit for trucks like ours for 770$ A little pricey but you get every thing you need to convert it over including a A/C compressor, power steering pump, alternator and water pump, plus all brackets, pullies and hard ware. Not a bad deal for some like me who has only a limited amount of time to work on his ride. My question is, has any one used this kit before and which side does the A/C compressor set on? Thanks for any and all input on this subject and just incase your wondering what the weather is like in Iraq, Well after 120 we stop keeping track of it! Below is a copy of the add on the Summit website:

we just finished this motor for our 83. I bought the serpentine set-up off ebay by searching chevrolet serpentine set-up - I bought from a seller utevag in Tenessee. I had to wait until he pulled the set I got and listed it as I wanted the A/C on the passenger side for my application. $ 270 shipped to my door and as you can see it looks brand new....
Good Luck,
Don<><

this is what my 91 belt arrangement is. I dont know if it is the same set up as yours. BTW i keep a printout of this in my glove box in case the one belt breaks/flys off whatever. It takes like three minutes to put another on, but, if you are unsure of the route of the belt, it could take hours. I keep my old belt in my truck too just in case.

Thanks! SO on my 84 the A/C is on the driver's side. Now that it would be relocated to the passenger side, any body can tell me what year the manifold hoses will have to come from? Not a computer tech, but I think this is the link:http://www.summitracing.com/search/?keyword=NAL-12497698&dds=1
Thanks for the info all which is dearly noted.

i would think if you have a salvage yard nearby, it may be worthwhile to strip the parts off a donor while taking pics of the whole setup and process and then transfer to your vehicle. cheaper too.

This is basically a factory set up. I agree, find a donor

Cheaper yes, but I am a overseas contractor and hardly get chance to visit home. A kit put together by GM that has all the hardware, new or reman parts, brackets and connectors delivered to my front door, I jumped at the chance. When I arrive home, I go straight to work and spend less time looking for needed parts. Besides, I believe all the salvage yards in my area have been picked clean. Thanks for all your input. Any word on which A/C hoses will have to be used with this kit?

I just bought the same setup from the same guy on ebay. I'm going to install it on my 85, and I just have a couple of questions. I have a factory crate engine which I got from a GM dealer in 98. Does the power steering pump in the kit bolt up to the stock steering box. Is there much work involved in aligning the pulleys, and is there any stock a/c lines that will work or do I just get some made. And also, will this new bracketry interfere with headers. Thanks.

It'll hook up to the steering box and I had no header problems. Pulleys fit great, too.

I was there today browsing, I saw two different bracket systems. The more common setup I saw was what Vile had posted earlier. The other setup was a one piece bracket that goes across the front of the engine. Is there really any difference as far as it working or not? I dont remember which ones were tbi and which were carb, but I know none were diesels. It looked like this.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1989-chevy-305-Serpentine-Bracket-Tensioner-Supports-/390079506722?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5ad28ce922
Another thing I noticed was a bracket or two mounted to the manifolds. That wont work for my engine because of the headers. Could that be a problem?
