I changed mine real easily without a spring compressor. I jacked the truck up as high as I could get it and put it on jack stands. I used a floor jack to push up on lower control arm (compressing the spring) then undid the upper shock mount and separated the lower control arm and lower ball joint. then just slowly let the jack down and the spring will fall out when the arm gets near vertical. Putting them in is just as easy except I used a hammer to tap the bottom into the spring cup when the spring was starting to compress. I did it 3 times each side and my best time was 3 hours to change both springs.
I went with 2 inch lifted coils, I had a broken coil on the drivers side. Here is the new spring vs the old ones, they are alot thicker. It was very easy to do it took me about 45 min per side to do
