manual to automatic conversion
« on: August 14, 2010, 07:59:47 pm »
I own a 79 4x4 Cheyenne 3 speed manual I want to convert it to an automatic on the tree.  I have the new steering column with the shifter on the tree and a new th400.  is there any advice on the conversion?    Manual to auto...

you get the column linkage for the auto? Also gonna need the correct t-case adapter to go from a th400 to your t-case. There could be a difference in case length of the transmissions too which could mean drilling new crossmember holes or driveshaft work.

You need the mount on the frame for the shift lever along with the linkages.  you will need a different driveshaft and yoke alone with moving the crossmember.
