Slow to shift into 3rd
« on: September 28, 2010, 03:50:12 pm »
I just recently purchased an 81 Chevy 4x4 truck.  Tranny was rebuilt roughly 2,500 miles ago and the truck shifts from 1st to second fine.  It will shift into 3rd but at a very high RPM like high enough I do not like running the motor that hard, especially just getting the truck.  Any suggestions?

P.S. This is my first 73-87, bought it off of a friend who for lack of a better way to put it has no mechanical sense whatsoever.  I have taken the truck (which is in decent shape) as a project to fix it up a bit.
