Weiand aluminum intake
« on: November 06, 2010, 05:01:47 pm »
I got this intake from a buddy & figured I'd put it on as I'm putting together a fresh 355 & everything is all painted & perttied up. But as I'm putting on all the little things, water pump, fuel pump, engine mounts & some brackets, I've come to a problem. There is no bolt hole in the front of the intake to support the back side of the alt. top bracket. There is also no bolt hole for the throttle cable bracket near the rear of the intake.
So I looked on their website, & the number that is on the top of the intake,( 7502 ), is not listed anywhere that I can find. I wanted to check in case this intake was built for a specific year & model of engine.
So now I'm wondering if there are other style brackets that will work. & where would I find them? ( as in which years & models of vehicles would possibly have these different brackets, if they exist.)
Also, this is a sbc of unknown exact year. It is a 3970010,  4 bolt main, block. I have 3 of these blocks, & this one does not appear to have the I.D. & date code on it anywhere that I can see.
   Any idea's?

What is a "long water pump" ?  & how is it different from a standard one for a sbc ?

The short water pump is used on early engines and marine applications. The long waterpump is more common. Think of the pulley mounting flange sticking out further toward the radiator. Do a Google search of both and look at pix
