OK First off this thread is getting out of line. It's OK to disagree and debate things. Cutting and pasting words doesn't impress anybody as there is a LOT of false information plagued accross the web. A nice healthy discussion so everyone can understand, discuss and learn something is what should come out of this. If you guys want to fist fight over this call each other up and go meet somewhere but keep it cool here.

Let me address a few points. You guys are debating different topics while tying to address this guys question and bouncing all over the place.

-Heat goes to less heat. Think of it as unheating
-The thermostats job is to regulate the temperature in the engine not the radiator
-The bypass circuit in the cooling system provides heat to the heater core regardless unless a waterflow valve is installed
-As far as combustion temps, yes go back to the first point here. Keeping the temperature around the combustion chamber as high as possible will help cause less heat energy loss during combustion and help lower emissions. If it gets too hot abnormal combustion takes place.
-Why do hot rod junkies run cooler t-stats? Typically to maximize spark advance without having abnormal combustion. Is this efficient? No but it if your goal is strictly performance then you probably run a cooler temp t-stat.
-As far as the radiator being too big, remember this is a heat exanger. It is heat energy you are getting rid of. A bigger radiator is no different than a climate change. Example the coolant is 210 at the radiator the temp outside is 70 (ambient) . Heat goes to less heat. The coolant temp is 190 at the radiator the ambient temp is 10… heat goes to less heat. Get the idea? Is the rate of exchange the same? No. Will it take longer to heat up in the winter? Will it take longer to cool down in the Summer? That’s why we have thermostats. Manufacturers put radiators in that will be cost effective and will allow the vehicle to be utilized for its intended usage in all climates and conditions. Adding more cooling capacity will not harm the engine.

locked before I ban someone...
DO NOT use this approach for debating topics, reread the posting agreement that states NO BASHING OF MEMBERS!
If things get elevated, hit the report to moderator button and put a description on it, I get email on my phone and will "fix" the problem.

We are supposed to be friends here, lets act like it and disagree without personal attacks...

I'm with Capt. and Vile.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
