one piece window
« on: December 02, 2010, 09:13:07 pm »
Has anyone here actually done the one piece side windows?

I would love to get rid of my vent windows but for the cost of the one
piece kits, I would have to be sure that they fit, roll up and down with ease
and that there is no wind noise.

What's your opinions?

Thanks,
Greg

I haven't done one on my vehicle... yet, but I have 2 that will be getting them soon.

OPP have sold over 700 of these kits, there has never been a problem with fit, rolling down etc.
In my catalog where you can buy them there is a link on how to install them step by step by Ben at OPP, the guy that invented them.

The only potential problem I see is if you have the standard mirrors they may not be solid anymore.  Before I really got interested in the 73-87, way before internet, I had a 1982 with the sport mirrors.  I put the standard mirrors on the doors and when you went down the road everything was blurry because I didn't have the bottom mount that bolted to the inner door structure which would have to be taken out with the one piece kit.  Sport mirrors wouldn't be a problem I would think.

You can add a inner structure to the back of the outside scraper to solidify that.  Generally you don't have to do this on anything but aftermarket doors.

Another easy way to stiffen up the mirror area would be to panel pond another piece of sheetmetal to the inside of the door.
