88 R10 sputtering
« on: December 28, 2010, 11:50:30 pm »
been having a couple issues with my suburban. its a 350tbi/700r4. i noticed the other day while driving on the highway that it started sputtering around 75 mph. like it was cutting out. ease of the gas a bit and it was fine. well the other day driving in town it started doing the same around 45mph. but only did it under load on hills or heavy acceleration. idles drives and shifts fine otherwise. it has new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter less than 2000 miles ago. oreillys said it could be the diaphram in the tb being ate up, caused by percentage of ethanol in the gas that missouri uses. but it will only do it in 4th gear. all other gears it drives normal. could 4th gear be going out? or low fuel pressure? and it doesnt do it everytime...i cant get it to do it consistenly every single time. im confused....

I had a similar problem w/ my 91 sub.  Turned out that it was the TBI electrical doomajiggy.  See below:

Check for codes first...sounds like it might be a lean miss...
