Brake problem
« on: January 07, 2011, 01:34:26 pm »
Not sure where to post, was going to post in tech but wouldn't allow me to.  I have an 1975 Chevrolet Pickup, 292, as basic as you can possibly get.  When you push the brakes it pulls hard to the right, previous owner said he thinks its the line, well I decided to just try to bleed the brakes first and got nothing, no fluid, no air, just nothing.  So I don't know if its the caliper, line or proportioning valve.  I know I can snag a proportioning valve from a junk yard and just wondering if I should go ahead and grab a new line and caliper from the parts house as well.  Also if anyone has any advice would be helpful.

The tech section is for information, not questions.

When you bled the brakes, did you do each corner?

Make sure the caliper slides are free and the piston travels freely. If it does, replace the hose.

Thanks I think I found the problem, I removed the caliper and disconnected it from the hose and the hose is leaking but barely.  Its like a seep so I'm going to go grab a new line and replace that and just go ahead an replace the caliper as well for the heck of it being as its only like 12 bucks.
