Dash?????

Need a little help, I ordered a whole new for my 84 p/u from   but when it arrived I was very shocked! It was of poor quality I thought and I didnt have one to begin with. I painted it to match the interior but when I tried to install it, the dash didnt really fit, so my question is does anyone else have any experience with this piece? Any help would be apprecciated, Thanks and have a great day!

     You have to be careful about dropping competitors names here.  There is a lot of company's that people have bought dashes from that didn't work. 
Give it some time and people on here will respond on what they had to do.

I know exactly what you are talking about and it probably fit like a blubbery slab of lard. Those are garbage. I think Chris here sells a better version of them but I would ask him first what his experience with them is as I've only stuck to the OEM style since I ran into what you did when I tried that route.

Good Feed Back! Thanks for all the info but it has been so long, who is Chris? I did not mean to bash anyone but if we are having a problem with a product then this is what the forum is for. Not to bash some one but to let others now where to find a better solution to your problem??

It's a long story but Chris (Captkaos, the owner of the site) has had numerous bad experiences with this certain company and they are a competitor so anyone who mentions them gets banned.

First off I'm a new B on here, but I've never seen a site that actually wouldn't tell people where the problematic parts are coming from? Usually that's one of things people are looking for in a site, is recommendations and suggestions isn't it? It's ultimately up to the individual, whether or not to purchase something from one vendor or another regardless of what another person says? If someone is selling bad products, it really doesn't seem ethical to to hide that information just because it was one persons decision to purchase from there? I'm kind of confused by this?

No one said you can't discuss the quality of any products. If you actually read this thread you would see the discussion here stated the rubbery blubbery dashes are junk and this site sells a better quality version. Certain vendors have been banned from this site. If you have never seen a site that doesn't have rules preventing people from limiting discussions on certain topics or posting competitors links on their sites then you haven't been around the internet very much.

No one gets banned from mentioning them....anymore, and it was a 5 day ban....
There is only one company banned from the site and everyone knows who they are.  And they sell any products without telling the customer if it is decent or not. 

The Company that MAKES the product that is a rubbery flimsy dash it Dashes Direct.  All the 73-80 dashes are that way, and they have 81-91 dashes like that, BUT they also have skinned dashes just like the factory dash.  ASK before you buy. 

I am a vendor for Dashes Direct, the rubbery dashes are NOT on my catalog, if someone contacts me wanting a dash I ask what they are going to use it for and how picky they are about it, if it is a farm truck or just something they aren't looking for perfection on, the rubbery dash is fine.  I have sold a few and have a few in stock.  If you are restoring a truck, I WILL NOT sell you a rubbery dash.

With that said, Dashes Direct is willing to make a 73-80 skinned dash, but they need an OEM dash to make it from and it needs to be PERFECT.  They are also willing to pay whatever it cost to get it.  So if you see one let me know.

In addition, this is my forum and my business.  The forum is an extension of the company and it helps sell parts.  If any Vendor wants to come on here and pay for a Vendor Subscription, even the one that is banned, they are welcome and any bans will be lifted.  I won't however be a free advertisement platform for any companies when it directly effects my sales.

Yeah that's right. I understand why they are banned, but it does make it difficult for newbs to figure out who they are and why you generally shouldn't buy from them. I have to say that I agree with this site owner guy on that one. I have ordered two major things from them and ended up paying to ship them back cause they were not of sufficient quality. Door panels and a dash. This was a long time ago though. IMO, they are only good for very small, little parts that you might have a hard time finding anywhere else. But even then they are drastically overpriced. Just do a little more searching on google and you will likely find the item you are looking for, for half of what the banned place sells them for. No joke. And that's on everything they freakin sell. They think their stuff is worth gold for something that goes on an old, commonplace truck. Given my experiences with their quality, I'd say their really wrong about that.

I don't even think about them when I'm buying parts.
