Speedometer Gear
« on: March 24, 2011, 07:48:01 pm »
My 15 tooth speedometer drive gear for a GM 208 transfer case is toast......any ideas where I can get a new one? Already got the drive linkage and the transfer case cover off, so just need the new plastic piece and I'm back in business. Its for an 83 Chevy K10.

check your local parts stores or a speedometer or transmission shop.

parts store said they don't carry them. Going to call a tranny shop in the morning.

you should have a calibration shop near you, but, you'd have to find out what gear you need based on tire size, gear ratio, etc..

I've used this site, however the part I need is out of stock. Could I just get it from a tranny shop and install myself?

I picked up used speedometer gears for my 208 from a local tranny shop for $10. You will want both gears, and it's an easy install to do yourself.
