leaking np241
« on: June 15, 2011, 01:33:42 pm »
Np 241 leaking atf at rear output. Replaced the rear seal and still leaking. Did some research online and found this to be a common issue. I searched for old forums on leaking 241's and couldn't find anything. Found that a common problem with leaking is a bushing on the rear output shaft of the transfer case. Anyone have experience or info on this or a link? Thanks

Do you have an excessive amount of yoke sticking out of the t-case? That can cause wobble in the bushing and then the seal will leak, just like my np208 currently does  :-\

Grim82- stock height 89 1500 suburban and seems like the yoke goes in far enough. I have read leaks caused by a plugged breather, weep hole in the yoke, bushing and the rear seal. After replacing the rear seal the leak got worse. Hate to take it to a tranny shop if I can figure out where its leaking and address it. Atf drips out and is thrown all over under rig. Frustrating.
