Ignition back feed?
« on: June 29, 2011, 08:36:32 am »
84 Chevy shortbed project. 383 stroker/HEI. No tilt steering column. Everything was working fine until the other day i had it running and went to turn the key off and the motor keeps running. Had to choke it out to kill the motor. Replaced ignition/Key and that didnt change anything. I am getting backfeed to Dist somewhere? The two wire plug on alternator is getting constant power? i unplugged alternator completly and that didnt change anything either. Something has failed somewhere because i didnt have this problem before.I read on other posts maybe the ignition switch under dash? Any ideas on how to trace where i'm getting constant power from? I am still thinking its something switch related in column?? Anyone else had this issue??
Thanks

the ignition switch is connected to the ignition cylinder. so its still in the column sounds like your problem
