q jet question

i got a complete rebuild qjet for a set of rallies. it came fm an 80 4x4 454 will it work on my 305 or what

It'll work, but the jets, metering rods, spring hangers, just about everything will be a far cry from the quadrajet GM would have put on your 305.  Air/fuel ratio won't be perfect, but might be o.k. with a little tuning.  All that stuff can be changed out anyway.

 I put a 305 qjet on a 366 tall deck once... worked beautifully! 5.0 to 6.0 with absolutly nothing done to it aside from adjusting the secondary av.
 Granted a 454 is a fair bit larger.. but depending on the build and the expected rpm you may get away with minimal adjustments...rejetting and so on. Personally I would have already slapped it on and tried... why not?
