I have watched this over and over again and have it on my DVR so if you decide to do it post pics of each stage and let us know what it realy took to do it. I mean i don't think he is lying but seeing it done with out the magic of TV would be nice.

What vehicle are you wanting to put it in? You might have issues offsetting the diff and finding axle tube and shafts long enough to put it under a full size rig. They cut it down to fit a jeep so they just cut one side to offset and narrow.

Great point on the wheel track. Definitely something to look at before diving into. I have yet to watch those shows, but have them DVR'd.

wow sweet shows!!! They do breeze over diff alignment for the front install though. I mean i know its not a rocket ship but its important to explain how they measured the outputs on the np 205 to determine axle tube length. Also excellent point that you may be need to lengthen one shaft depending on application.
definitley makes me want to do a disc conversion. wonder if its that easy on a dual wheel setup, im gonna take some measurements this week and i'll reply with any more insight.

Ok, i started measuring and got confused pretty quickly. Turns out the c&c drw 14b is the shortest at 63.5 followed by the srw @67.5. The longest was the drw pickup(non c&c)@ 72".
This gives excellent description for id your 14b.

I'm putting it in my 77 stepside, once I can afford it.

If you have the np 205 its ~9.5" center/center between front and rear outputs. This will be offset from center for the 14b pinion location.
I would use your existing front axle (d44 or 60?) as a guide for the overall length(steering knuckle - steering knuckle) and spring perch location. Find the 14b front steer kit online and get knuckle dimensions. Using that as a reference point to determine how much to trim from the pass side and if the drv side is long enough.

(this one even comes w/ custom seal kits but its too expensive for me)

don't forget 14bolt ff has offset pinion to begin with, might not be in the direction you need, but it still has to be calculated for.

Custom Differentials in Bloomsdale, MO has done a ton of one-off custom front axle builds.
Give them a call, they should be able to help.

I think a Dana 60 would be cheaper to do.

I'm with fitz on this one to. I don't really want to bash what you'r doing because if I had the cash it would be a really neat thing but whats the advantage of this? I get it that the 14bolt is stronger but are you really going to need the thing? It's like putting a 14 bolt rear end in a chevette with the isuzu diesel, just seems like overkill. If you do end up doing it though let us know as it's wicked cool looking from the videos.
