Found a new 80 psi gauge at the junk yard. Put it in as soon as i got home.

Looks like it belongs there.  Did you install an 80 PSI sender, too?

well i am not sure what psi the sender is actually, how would i be able to tell?

If the old gauge was 0-60 PSI, you have a 60-PSI sender.  The sender will be stamped "60" on one flat of the 9/16" hex nut adjacent to the threaded end of the sender.  I think the GM part number for the 80-PSI sender with 1/8" male pipe thread is 15591103, but you should verify that.
